Jentayu Sustainables restructures management, streamlines leadership

KUALA LUMPUR: Jentayu Sustainables Bhd (JSB) has undertaken a management restructuring effective today as part of its strategy to streamline leadership, improve execution, and realign its organisation under a single unified vision.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the company, which focuses on renewable energy, particularly hydropower, said its chief executive officer and non-independent executive director, Baevin Thiagarajah, has resigned. He will, however, remain as an internal advisor.

JSB also said Datuk Beroz Nikmal Mirdin has relinquished his position as executive chairman and has been redesignated as group managing director.

Meanwhile, Abdul Halim Jantan has been redesignated from senior independent non-executive director to independent non-executive chairman.

The management restructuring follows a proposal by Beroz to align the company’s leadership structure with his operational approach.

As group managing director, Beroz will now oversee project delivery and corporate matters and provide a more integrated leadership model to accelerate delivery.

"With Project Oriole approaching financial close and more projects in the pipeline, we need sharper execution and tighter operational control.

"I take this responsibility seriously, and I believe this structure will help us deliver better value for our shareholders,” said Beroz.

With prior experience at PJM Interconnection LLC, Tenaga Nasional Bhd and Khazanah Nasional Bhd, Beroz brings a deep understanding of project delivery, corporate finance, and strategic governance, as JSB transitions from pre-development to execution and asset scaling.

Project Oriole, a 162MW run-of-river hydropower project, remains on track, with continued support from JSB’s financing partners, Maybank, Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd, and Malaysia Building Society Bhd.

Beroz said this is a vote of confidence in the company’s capabilities. - Bernama
