MALAYSIA’S plantation sector appears less vulnerable to the ongoing tariff war since the United States is not a key market for its palm products. However, the situation is more complicated than it seems.
Datuk Nageeb Wahab, deputy secretary-general of the Council of Palm Oil Producing Countries (CPOPC), says tariffs on palm oil from Malaysia and Indonesia will likely raise costs for US manufacturers, increasing prices for food and non-food products.
