Andrew Sheng warns US-China trade war will have long-lasting impact on Asean

KUALA LUMPUR: A former central banker has warned that the ongoing US-China trade war, which has seen tariffs on Chinese goods rise by over 104 per cent, will have a long-lasting impact on global markets, including Malaysia and ASEAN countries.

George Town Institute of Open and Advanced Studies chairman and Institute for Capital Market Research distinguished fellow Tan Sri Andrew Sheng (pic) emphasised the trade war is not a temporary factor but part of a broader geopolitical rivalry that is likely to persist for years.
