EQ8WAQF faces possible suspension over delayed financial report


PETALING JAYA: EQ8 FTSE Malaysia Enhanced Dividend Waqf ETF (EQ8WAQF) faces a possible trading suspension after its manager failed to submit its interim financial report for the financial period ended Dec 31, 2024 to Bursa Malaysia within the stipulated timeframe.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, EQ8WAQF, the world’s first Waqf-featured exchange-traded fund, said it was supposed to submit its interim financial report by Feb 28, 2025, pursuant to Paragraph 9.48(1) of Bursa Securities' Main Market Listing Requirements (LR).

“In view of the above and in the event that the manager of EQ8WAQF is unable to submit the ETF’s outstanding interim financial report for the financial period ended Dec 31, 2024 on or before March 7, 2025, the trading in the above ETF's units will be suspended with effect from 9am, Monday, March 10, 2025 until further notice.”

Pursuant to Paragraph 9.28(6) of the LR, if a listed issuer fails to issue the outstanding financial statements within six months from the expiry of the relevant timeframes, in addition to any enforcement action that Bursa Securities may take, delisting procedures shall be commenced against such listed issuer.
