PETALING JAYA: Xilnex Holdings Sdn Bhd, a part subsidiary of GDEX Bhd, has launched an advanced data analytics platform with Data Scientist as a Service (DSaaS) at its core.

Known as Xilnex Insights, the software was developed to provide retail and food and beverage (F&B) businesses in Malaysia with on-demand expert analytics capabilities, eliminating the need for inhouse data scientists.

In a statement issued by the company yesterday, it said the software, jointly developed with analytics consulting firm Real Analytics Sdn Bhd, will enable retailers to make data-driven decisions quickly and effectively, without the challenge and complexity of building their own analytics teams.

Xilnex said with the rapid rise of eCommerce and omnichannel shopping, many retail businesses are struggling with a talent gap, as they lack employees who can effectively translate data into actionable business strategies.

Mid-sized retailers in particular, it said, are challenged by a lack of skilled analytics professionals who understand the retail industry and can design and implement analytics tools that are relevant to their business needs.

Xilnex chief executive Ooi Boon Sheng said while retailers recognise the importance of data, they find it difficult to extract meaningful insights due to a lack of expertise.

“As such, Xilnex Insights aims to bridge this gap by equipping retail businesses with artificial intelligence (AI)-powered analytics and on-demand data science expertise, ensuring they can compete effectively in today’s fast-evolving retail landscape,” he said.

Ooi said the programme offers prebuilt retail-centric data models that enable businesses to optimise inventory, personalise customer experiences, and forecast sales with high accuracy – without requiring months of development time.

This eliminates guesswork and allows retailers to make smarter, data-driven decisions faster, while positioning retailers to maximise the benefits of AI-driven insights without investing in costly, complex data infrastructure, he added.

At the same time, even for retailers with in-house data analytics capabilities, Xilnex Insights’ DSaaS serves as a powerful tool to validate findings and uncover additional value, commented Real Analytics cofounder Ooi Boon Yaik.

“By combining expert analysis with industry-specific insights, we help businesses go beyond raw data to actionable strategies. Instead of leaving retailers to interpret reports on their own, our team provides guidance to clarify key insights and answer critical business questions through robust data analytics methodologies,” said Boon Yaik.

The firm, which is 38% owned by GDEX, has expanded across South-East Asia, with a presence in the Philippines, Cambodia and Vietnam.
