Johan is new Maxis chairman


New Maxis chairman Datuk Johan Idris.

PETALING JAYA: Maxis Bhd has appointed Datuk Johan Idris, 58, as chairman, effective March 1, 2025.

He takes over from Datuk Hamidah Naziadin, 61, who was interim chairman since July 1, 2024.

Hamidah will continue her role as an independent non-executive director at Maxis.

Johan is a qualified accountant with over 35 years of working experience and a proven leadership track record.

He has extensive experience across various industries, both locally and globally.

He was previously the managing partner of KPMG Malaysia, a member of KPMG Asia-Pacific Board and a member of the KPMG International Global Council. Johan also served as president of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants.

Currently, he is the non-executive chairman of KPMG Malaysia and a board member of the Capital Market Compensation Fund Corp of the Securities Commission.

He is also a board member of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, senate member and sits on the Board of Trustees of the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance, established by Bank Negara.

Additionally, he is a council member of Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
