PETALING JAYA: Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) has implemented various strategic initiatives in 2024, focusing on strengthening operational efficiency and improving infrastructure, ensuring the best experience for its 9.62 million consumers in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

Air Selangor said it reached a non-revenue water rate of 27%, equivalent to water savings of 298.36 million liters per day, optimising operational costs and ensuring Air Selangor’s efficiency.

There was also an increase in the water reserve margin to 18.60%, compared to 15.34% in 2023, as a result of close monitoring of dams and water treatment plants (WTPs), as well as the progressive completion of the Langat 2 WTP.

Additionally, Air Selangor said it achieved a Pipe Burst Index of 3.25 pipe burst cases per 100km, a reduction from 4.18 cases/ 100km in 2023, and significantly lower than the international benchmark of 13 cases per 100km.

“Water quality complied with the Health Ministry’s drinking water quality standards of 99.93%, consistently exceeding 99% for four consecutive years.”

Meanwhile, the installation of solar systems at key WTPs saved over RM6.78mil in energy costs, aligned with efforts to reduce carbon footprints and improve energy efficiency, it pointed out.

Moving forward to 2025, Air Selangor said it remains committed to strengthening the resilience of the water supply system through various strategic initiatives that provide long-term benefits to consumers.
