Economy likely up 4.8% in 4Q24 on domestic demand


Chief statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said the growth was supported by strong domestic demand, a recovering external sector and strategic investments.

PETALING JAYA: The Statistics Department has forecast that the economy grew by 4.8% in the fourth quarter of last year (4Q24), bringing the full-year growth to 5.1%.

Chief statistician Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said the growth was supported by strong domestic demand, a recovering external sector and strategic investments in areas like renewable energy, digital infrastructure and data centres.
