Signing of JS-SEZ deal postponed

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced that the signing of the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ) agreement on Dec 9 has been postponed to next January.

Anwar, also the Finance Minister, said the delay was due to Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong being down with Covid-19.

“Last night, the Prime Minister of Singapore informed me that he was infected with Covid-19.

“Therefore, maybe the signing (of the agreement) should be postponed to January,” he told Dewan Negara when presenting the second reading of the Supply Bill 2025.

According to Anwar, the agreement would be a very meaningful step in the context of Asean and Malaysia’s good relationship with Singapore. — Bernama
