ASM 2 Wawasan declares income distribution amounting to RM1.31bil, highest in 7 years

KUALA LUMPUR: Permodalan Nasional Bhd’s (PNB) wholly-owned unit trust management company, Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd (ASNB), has announced a RM1.31 billion income distribution for its fixed price fund, Amanah Saham Malaysia 2 - Wawasan (ASM 2 Wawasan).

In a statement today, PNB said the distribution for the financial year ending Aug 31, 2026, is equivalent to 5.00 sen per unit, up from 4.75 sen per unit in the previous year, thus marking the highest income distribution declared by ASM 2 Wawasan in the past seven years.

The fund management company said the distribution benefits more than 1.01 million unitholders holding 26.3 billion units.

"The 5.00 per cent distribution rate outperforms its benchmark, the Maybank 12-Month Fixed Deposit rate of 2.01 per cent, by 299 basis points," it said.

As of Aug 24, 2026, ASM 2 Wawasan recorded a net realised income of RM1.43 billion.

PNB said the stronger performance reflects the fund’s resilience in navigating an increasingly uncertain investment environment, marked by heightened geopolitical tensions, including the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, shifting interest rate expectations and continued market volatility.

Its performance was supported by disciplined portfolio management, prudent risk management and selective positioning in areas with strong structural growth potential, it added.

The fund’s income was underpinned by realised gains and dividend income from its diversified investments across domestic and global equities.

At the same time, its allocation across fixed income, real estate and private equity contributed to greater diversification of income sources and helped cushion the portfolio against shifts in market conditions, PNB said.

PNB said unitholders who have opted for the zakat khultah arrangement (Class B) will receive their dividend net of zakat, with a 2.57 per cent deduction applied to the dividend, translating to an estimated net dividend rate of 4.87 per cent based on the declared 5.00 per cent. - Bernama
