KUALA LUMPUR: Ultimate Print Sdn Bhd and Darphane, the Turkish State Mint, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to work together in furthering Malaysia’s printing technology industry.

The collaboration marked a significant step towards establishing Malaysia, in particular Selangor, as a top technology printing hub in the region.

It seeks to advance the industry by introducing cutting-edge technology and innovative solutions to raise the capabilities and competitiveness of the printing sector.

Under the partnership, Ultimate Print, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kumpulan Karangkraf, will tap into Darphane’s expertise and technological innovations in security printing to meet the needs of local and international markets.

The production of banknotes, tax stamps, e-visas, and other high-security documents, are among the main areas Ultimate Print planned to further explore with the Turkish State Mint.

With the integration of green technologies, eco-friendly practices, and the use of sustainable materials in the printing processes, the partnership will set a new benchmark for sustainability in the printing industry.

“The MoU signifies our commitment to advancing the printing industry in Malaysia and establishing Selangor as a regional hub for technology and security printing,” said Ultimate Print chief executive officer Azizi Fickry in a statement.

“Together, we will drive innovation and set new standards in the industry,” he added.

Darphane, the state-owned firm under Turkiye’s Treasury and Finance Ministry, is responsible for the production of coins, bank notes, official seals, medals, and revenue stamps.

Darphane deputy general-director Mehmet Hekim, said: “This partnership aligns with our vision of expanding our global footprint and contributing to the growth of the printing technology sector.”

“We look forward to a fruitful collaboration that will benefit both parties and the industry at large.”
