PNB tops GSR Scoreboard in Malaysia, ranks 4th globally

PNB president and group chief executive Datuk Rizal Rickman Ramli

KUALA LUMPUR: Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) was once again the top ranked Malaysian institution in the 2026 Governance, Sustainability and Resilience (GSR) Scoreboard published by Global SWF.

This year, the state-owned fund manager also ranked shared fourth among global institutions, leaping ahead from 17th place in 2025.

The GSR Scoreboard assesses more than 200 sovereign investors worldwide based on governance standards, sustainability practices and institutional resilience.

For 2026, PNB achieved an overall score of 88%, comprising 90% for governance, a perfect 100% for sustainability, and 60% for resilience.

"Our perfect sustainability score is particularly meaningful as it reflects years of work in integrating sustainability considerations into the way we operate, invest and exercise stewardship.

"Through our refreshed Sustainability Framework, we are reinforcing a more holistic approach centred on Organisational Sustainability, Responsible Stewardship and Nation-Building," said president and group chief executive Datuk Rizal Rickman Ramli in a statement.

He noted the fund attained its Net Zero Enterprise target for Scope 1 and  Scope 2 emissions in 2025, as it advances its Net Zero portfolio ambition by 2050 through active engagement with investee companies and the integration of climate-related considerations into investment decision-making.

"Achieving our Net Zero Enterprise target for Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions demonstrates our ability to translate commitments into measurable outcomes.

"As we move forward, we will continue to strengthen our stewardship practices, deepen climate and sustainability integration across the organisation and investment portfolio, and remain focused on delivering sustainable long-term value for our unitholders," added Rizal.
