Mah Sing signs second data centre agreement

PETALING JAYA: Southville City Sdn Bhd (SVC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mah Sing Bhd, had inked a second collaboration agreement with Bridge Data Centres Malaysia VII Sdn Bhd (BDC) for the joint venture development of data centres, facilities and infrastructure on another two parcels of land.

The land parcels measured 35.68 acres, and the development would be for 200 megawatt (MW) power capacity within the Mah Sing DC Hub@ Southville City, Mah Sing said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia yesterday.

The new project followed the initial collaboration announced in May within the 150-acre Mah Sing DC Hub@Southville City, with a power of capacity of 100MW. With the new agreement, the total power capacity of the project will increase to 300MW.

Mah Sing said the value of the land parcels shall be set at RM200.00 per sq ft, with BDC agreeing to pay SVC a forfeitable consideration of RM4,000,000 as reservation for the lands within three working days.

With Southville City, located approximately 20km apart from both Cyberjaya and Bukit Jalil, Mah Sing said the three locations can potentially form a trio of data centre destinations, creating a robust triangle of data centre hubs for the Klang Valley region.

“The data centre is aimed at established artificial intelligence and hyperscale customers, with the first phase anticipated to be operational by 2026.

“With 30 years of development experience, our track record for rapid execution further strengthens this collaboration,” said the group.

Additionally, it said the availability of power, water and connectivity at Southville City enables a faster speed to market.

It said: “By partnering with established data centre players such as BDC, the group can leverage its landbank to create recurring income streams and develop a robust portfolio of data centres.”

On top of the one-off gain from the land sale to the joint venture company, Mah Sing pointed out that the collaboration allows SVC to share in the profits of the joint venture company.

“This partnership is just the beginning of potential collaborations within Mah Sing DC Hub@Southville City and other landbanks, demonstrating the group’s commitment to leveraging its assets for long-term growth.

“Additionally, Mah Sing has 42 acres available with planned power capacity of 300MW at its Meridin East township in Johor Baru, further enhancing opportunities for value creation,” it said.
