Cypark inks MoA to jointly explore and develop energy solutions for German Technology Park

Cypark executive chair Datuk Ami Moris

PETALING JAYA: Cypark Resources Bhd has inked a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with Melaka Corp (MCORP) and Jakel Capital to jointly explore and develop energy solutions for the German Technology Park (GTP) in Melaka.

According to a press statement, the park is expected to generate 1,000 megawatts (MW) of solar-generated electricity over the next five to seven years and will include a dedicated section for data centres.

The development will utilise Cypark's expertise in renewable energy to ensure the park's energy needs are met with sustainable practices.

Executive chair Datuk Ami Moris said the partnership marks a significant milestone for the group as it continues to lead the way in renewable energy (RE) solutions and sustainable development in Malaysia.

“With MCORP and Jakel Capital by our side, we are confident that the GTP will set a new benchmark for innovation and sustainability in Malaysia,” she said.

The consortium will be structured such as a majority stake of 51% will be held by Jakel Capital, making it the largest shareholder, while Cypark and MCORP will hold 29% and 20% respectively.

Estimated to be worth RM4bil, the industrial park is said to be designed to attract leading German technology and manufacturing companies as it aims to become an innovation and sustainable development hub in Southeast Asia.

“This project includes the integration of RE sources and modern energy management systems, including battery storage solutions, to ensure firm and cost-efficient power supply to the industrial park in consultation with Tenaga Nasional Berhad and Suruhanjaya Tenaga via the Corporate Renewable Energy Supply Scheme (CRESS),” it added.
