Pertama Digital hits limit down, intraday short-selling suspended


KUALA LUMPUR: Shares in Pertama Digital Bhd hit limit down in morning trade and plunged to its lowest level in two years.

At the time of writing, the share was down 48 sen or 30% to RM1.12 after 417,300 units changed hands.

Bursa Securities announced it had suspended intraday short selling in the security for the remainder of the day given the more than 15% decline from the reference price

In recent developments, Pertama Digital, a digital services provider, had announced on Sept 27, 2024, that non-independent and non-executive director Tan Sri Nik Norzrul Thani Nik Hassan Thani had resigned from the board.

Norzrul is a major shareholder of the company with an 11.44% stake. He also serves as the acting executive chairman of T7 Global Bhd.

Earlier this week, it was announced that acting CEO Mohd Reza Mohd Hatta had also left the company.

According to the respective Bursa Malaysia filings, both personnel had relinquished their positions to pursue their own interests.

Pertama Digital, which is classified as an "affected listed issuer" on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia, said on Sept 13, 2024, it had been granted a six-month extension to Feb 9, 2025 to submit a regularisation plan to Bursa Securities.

The company had triggered paragraph 8.03A of the Main Market listing requirements following the disposal of its entire equity interest in its China-based textile unit Be Top Group Ltd for RM70mil on Aug 10, 2022, as it transitioned into a pure-play digital services provider.
