Maxis, Huawei in 5G innovation centre tie-up

PETALING JAYA: Maxis Bhd and Huawei Technologies (M) Sdn Bhd (Huawei Malaysia) have teamed up for a joint innovation centre focused on the development of 5G-advanced technology.

In a statement, the Maxis said the centre will focus on exploring and developing 5G-enabled solutions to improve customer experience, operating efficiencies, rapid deployment, industry use cases and develop homegrown talent for industrial and entrepreneurship activities.

“The collaboration will explore innovations in gigabit capacity to support mobile network expansions and 5G/5G-Advanced technologies such as mobile edge computing, network slicing, end-to-end network orchestration, RedCap and passive-Internet of Things,” it noted.

Additionally, Maxis and Huawei Malaysia will explore the usage of digitalisation, artificial intelligence and machine learning to optimise network operating efficiencies.

The collaboration will focus on nurturing homegrown talent in Malaysia, with an emphasis on university students and the local workforce.
