KUALA LUMPUR: Cross-border and e-commerce service provider HYT Cross Border Sdn Bhd is partnering Halal Development Corp Bhd (HDC) in a bid to expand cross-border offerings to halal micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME).
In a joint statement, the parties said they will supplement the export awareness programmes that are already in place and further expand their export readiness capabilities to ensure Malaysian MSMEs in the halal sector are ready to connect and engage with overseas target markets.
HDC CEO Hairol Ariffein Sahari said the collaboration will allow new channels of engagement and sales to be established in China and Thailand for Malaysian halal MSMEs.
"More importantly, HDC will be able to help these businesses understand how they can expand their reach into these new marketplaces,” he added.
“This partnership will also enable us to explore new distribution methods, such as business-to-business (wholesale) or business-to-business-to-consumer (supply chain or small volume trading).
"Working closely with HYT will boost HDC offerings and be at better position as it offers a platform that can positively impact the halal sector.”
HYT founder and managing director Datuk Danny Tan said SMEs and some micros that have the potential to scale do not have the resources to make the transitional leap to establish themselves in major trade countries like China, the Americas and Europe.
“HYT, with our deep understanding of the cross-border space and knowing how Malaysian-made goods are high in demand in China and the rest of the world, believes these smaller traders deserves to be given the chance they never had.
"While we had worked closely with various public and private sector partners, this collaboration with HDC will gives us better insights on how we can best approach these businesses and provide the help they need to start their cross-border journey,” he said.
