Minimal impact from fire incident, says Frontken


KUALA LUMPUR: Frontken Corp Bhd said a fire incident at a subsidiary's facility on Sunday was quickly brought under control, resulting in minimal damage.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the provider of support services to the semiconductor industry said the fire that broke out at the plant of Frontken Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Kulim) started at about 2.45pm and was brought under control soon after.

There were no casualties from the incident.

"Fortunately, the impact of the fire was minimal and our alternative facility qualified by our customers will be able to support the works undertaken by the affected unit.

"To that end, the financial impact to the group as a result of the fire, if any, will be minimal," Frontken said.

The group said the assets of its subsidiary and consequential losses including loss of income are adequately covered by insurance.

It said the fire department is in the midst of conducting an investigation to ascertain the cause of the fire.

Entering the lunch break, the trading stock of Frontken was last traded six sen higher at RM4.23 a share on the back of 686,300 shares changing hands.
