PETRONAS Chemicals appoints Mazuin Ismail as MD and CEO

KUALA LUMPUR: Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd has appointed Mazuin Ismail as its new managing director and chief executive officer, effective from Jan 1, 2024.

Mazuin, currently serving as senior vice president of corporate strategy at Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas), will succeed Mohd Yusri Mohamed Yusof, who was appointed to the position on Jan 1, 2022.

"As the senior vice-president of corporate strategy, he charted Petronas strategy and portfolio to achieve financial performance, earning stability to futureproof Petronas and sustainability.

"He also managed group-wide merger, acquisition, and divestment activities; key highlights include the acquisition of renewable energy opportunities globally, speciality chemicals including Perstorp Holdings AB and the Da Vinci Group,” Petronas Chemicals said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia today.

Petronas Chemicals said that as part of Petronas’ pursuit in the energy transition space at pace, Mazuin also steered the clean energy solutions unit, which has evolved into the national oil firm’s dedicated clean energy arm Gentari.

"Concurrently, Mazuin is also actively involved in the advocacy of the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), successfully launched in August 2023 by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim,” it said.

Mazuin joined Petronas in 1991 and has more than 30 years of experience covering project execution and engineering, internal audit, governance, and business development. - Bernama
