SAN DIEGO: California’s auto regulator says it has suspended General Motors’ (GM) Cruise autonomous vehicle (AV) deployment and driverless testing permits, saying it had misrepresented information related to the safety of the autonomous technology.

Cruise’s AVs posed “an unreasonable risk to public safety,” and “are not safe for the public’s operation” California’s Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) said in a statement.
