OpenSys Technologies and Asia Carbonx Change sign services agreement

OpenSys (M) Bhd CEO Eric Lim

PETALING JAYA: Opensys (M) Bhd’s subsidiary OpenSys Technologies Sdn Bhd has signed a services agreement with Asia Carbonx Change Plt (ACCP) to allow for the registration and verification of small-scale renewable energy (RE) solar devices, specifically those below 1 megawatt (MW), on the IREC registry.

OpenSys chief executive officer (CEO) Eric Lim says the collaboration is set to ignite the RE landscape, empowering small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and other stakeholders to take full advantage of their renewable energy assets.

“It is a significant step towards a more sustainable and economically viable future,” Lim said in a statement following the signing of the services agreement, which took place at the International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia (IGEM) 2023.

Founder and CEO of ACCP Nirinder Singh Johl said under the agreement, ACCP will take on the role of both market registrant and participant, while OpenSys Technologies Sdn Bhd will contribute its technological expertise as the platform operator.

“This collaborative effort will streamline the registration and verification process for RE solar devices, making it efficient and accessible to a wide range of stakeholders,” Nirinder added.

He said the primary objective of the initiative is to empower RE asset owners, particularly SMEs, by providing them with a platform to monetise their RE generation into tradable renewable energy certificates (RECs) using the MyREC platform.
