KUALA LUMPUR: In line with the government’s target to expand the market for electric vehicles (EV) in the country, Etiqa Insurance and Takaful has introduced Tesla Ensure, a comprehensive and exclusive insurance package for Tesla owners in Malaysia.

It said that the move would support the government's aim to grow the EV market share to 38 per cent of Malaysia’s automotive total industry volume by 2040.

The motor insurance and takaful plan is underwritten by Etiqa General Insurance Bhd and Etiqa General Takaful Bhd.

"Aside from Etiqa’s basic motor insurance package, Tesla Ensure policy and certificate owners will also receive free coverage for their EV home chargers, which offers reimbursement of up to RM12,000 to replace or repair lost or damaged chargers,” it said.

Etiqa Insurance and Takaful group chief executive officer, Kamaludin Ahmad emphasised the group’s commitment to sustainability, adding that the group aims to ease Tesla owners’ concerns with regards to their coverage plans.

The comprehensive coverage plan also includes special assistance for total loss and theft, personal accident coverage for insured individuals, flood assistance and cash rebates of up to 30 per cent. - Bernama
