KUALA LUMPUR: KYM Holdings Bhd has appointed Darren Lee as its new CEO from July 1, 2023.
He will succeed Lim Tze Thean, who will step down from the role on the same day but remain the group's executive chairman, in line with the Malaysian Code of Corporate Governance 2021 that states the chairman and CEO shall be held by different individuals.
In a statement, KYM said Lee joined the KYM Group as a non-independent non-executive director in November 2014 and was appointed deputy CEO and re-designated as executive director on June 1, 2022.
It said Lee, who is a member of the ACCA, has spent the last 20 years in finance and corporate work focusing on restructuring, M&A, privatizations as well as regional new business development.
He has experience in the automotive, electronics and packaging industry in Malaysia as well as regionally.
"These last 12 months were spent getting KYM ready to explore new business opportunities with a modest 8 figure war-chest for acquisitions and expansions.
"The board looks forward to Darren leading KYM in the new season of growth and value creation," said outgoing CEO Lim.
KYM, through its subsidiaries, is a specialist in the manufacture and sale of high-quality multi-wall industrial paper sacks and corrugated carton boxes.
