XIAN: Riding a driverless, rubber-tyred vehicle to a 150-metre deep mine has become a daily routine for miners of Shangwan coal mine in the city of Ordos, North China’s Inner Mongolia autonomous region.

Thanks to the digitalisation of the coal industry, miners no longer need to enter the deep mine shafts via walking or riding on a small, outdated train.
