TNG launches GOProtect insurance platform

KUALA LUMPUR: TNG Digital Sdn Bhd (TNG Digital), owner and operator of the Touch ‘n Go eWallet (eWallet) has introduced GOprotect, a platform which allows users to purchase various types of insurance offerings conveniently through the eWallet app.

GOprotect offers six insurance products via the eWallet app, namely WalletSafe, SafeTrip, SafeHome, CarInsure, CI Insure, and MotoInsure to cover various customers’ needs.

"With GOprotect, eWallet users can purchase an insurance plan in less than three minutes after comparing quotes from our leading insurance partners such as AlA Malaysia, Allianz, Etiqa, MSIG, Takaful Ikhlas, Takaful Malaysia, and Zurich Takaful.

"Users are also guaranteed a hassle-free claim process through the round-the-clock insurers’ claim hotline,” it said.

Speaking to reporters during the launch today, TNG Digital chief executive officer Alan Ni said that more than two million policies have been issued via the eWallet since the launch of its first insurance product in July 2021, adding that 1.5 million policies were issued last year.

"We plan on doubling the number of policies issued this year and will continue to improve the overall insurance penetration, especially among the B40 group, where it is still very low at only 30 per cent.

"By working closely with our trusted insurance partners, TNG eWallet will introduce more value-for-money insurance products in the near future," he said.

Ni said the company has always envisioned TNG eWallet becoming a one-stop alternative to banking solutions, enabling users to access a full suite of financial services products.

"We are one step closer to that vision with the launch of GOprotect today, and we will continue to build that pipeline by working with various partners to grow our financial services offerings which will benefit and add value for our users,” he added.
