Ageson unit to be signed on as Kobena smart vending machine operator

KUALA LUMPUR: Ageson Bhd's unit Ageson Net Sdn Bhd is exploring a partnership with Koperasi Belia Nasional Bhd (Kobena), in which Ageson Net will be appointed as an operator to manage the business operations of Kobena's 4,000 units of Internet-of-Things-equipped vending machines and retail refrigerators.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Ageson said the memorandum of understanding was a step towards the management of the operation of the smart vending machines, which includes the retail products to be sold in the machines and their integrated network.

It added that the MoU was to explore plans to secure and identify new suitable locations to install and operate the smart vending machines.

Ageson added that the parties target a revenue of about RM2.3bil per annum from the product sales from the machines, of which 5% or RM115mil will be attributed to Ageson Net for its services.
