PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) is expecting 25,000 visitors at its travel fair next month.

Secretary-general Nigel Wong said visitors can buy a variety of value-for-money domestic and international holiday packages from about 150 tourism companies.

Speaking at briefing yesterday, he said they can also purchase Malaysia Aviation Group’s (MAG) airlines flight tickets through its appointed agents.

Wong said MATTA welcomed MAG, a group comprising Malaysia Airlines, Firefly and MASwings, as the official airlines for the travel fair.

“The highlights of the fair are promotional flight tickets and tour packages for domestic and international destinations, theme parks promotion and many new products created for domestic trips due to high demand from Malaysians.”

He said Malaysians now are into domestic travel and Langkawi is the local favourite domestic destination.

“We will also have international exhibitors from South Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Turkey, the Philippines and India.

“Twenty-one hotels and resorts and six theme parks will participate in the fair where consumers can get good deals,” he said.

Wong added that the organisers of the fair would comply with Health Ministry guidelines on safety measures and has advised the exhibitors to comply with social distancing and to limit the numbers of people at each booth.

The upcoming travel fair will be held at the World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur, from Sept 2 to Sept 4, 2022.

Meanwhile, Malaysia Airlines group chief marketing and customer experience officer Lau Yin May said the group targeted RM100mil flight ticket sales from the event and the MHholidays website.

Malaysia Airlines will be offering up to 45% discounts while Firefly will offer 31% discounts on airfares to all destinations in Malaysia and selected international destinations within the Malaysia Airlines and Firefly network.

MHholidays, the tour-operating arm of Malaysia Airlines, is also offering up to 40% discount on flight and three-day, two-night hotel packages starting from RM362 for domestic holidays and RM1,021 per person for four-day, three-night international holidays.

These holiday packages can be booked on the MHholidays website from Aug 31 until Sept 11, 2022, for immediate travel until April 12, 2023.

To further enhance visitors’ experience at the physical fair, the three MAG airlines will be giving away 27 tickets at the Buyers’ Contest.

These include business class return tickets to London, Sydney and Haneda as well as economy class return tickets to Melbourne, Perth, Seoul, Osaka, Denpasar, Singapore, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu and Langkawi.

Meanwhile, Firefly and MASwings are offering five and 10 return tickets, respectively, to winners’ destinations of choice within their network.
