Alliance Bank appoints Kam as group CEO


PETALING JAYA: Alliance Bank Malaysia Bhd has announced the appointment of Kellee Kam Chee Khiong (pic, above) as group CEO effective Sept 1, 2022.

He will succeed Joel Kornreich {pic, below}, whose tenure as group CEO ends on Aug 31, 2022.

Kam, 48, will join Alliance Bank after stepping down as chairman and independent director of Bank of America Malaysia Bhd where he served since 2016.

“I would like to congratulate Mr Kornreich and his team on successfully leading the bank through the challenging Covid-19 environment and putting the bank on good footing coming out of it.

“I am committed to continue to build on Alliance Bank’s strong foundations and exciting potential to further elevate it as a progressive financial institution,” Kam said in a statement released by the bank yesterday.

He has over 23 years of experience in the banking industry including serving as the group managing director of the RHB Banking Group from 2011 to 2015.

Prior to that role, he held various other senior roles within the RHB Banking Group including group chief financial officer, head of group strategy and corporate finance.

Tan Sri Ahmad Mohd Don, chairman of Alliance Bank, said: “The board and I would like to congratulate Mr Kam on his new role as the group CEO and we look forward to welcoming him to Alliance Bank.

“We are confident that he will be able to lead the bank to greater heights while keeping the bank safe in the face of any adversities and challenges that may come.”

Kornreich leaves Alliance Bank after 7½ years as the group CEO. He helped build the Alliance Bank franchise into a progressive and resilient business and strengthened the risk culture and internal processes.
