Bursa appoints Abdul Farid as independent director

KUALA LUMPUR: Bursa Malaysia Bhd has appointed former Malayan Banking Bhd group president and chief executive officer Datuk Seri Abdul Farid Alias (pic) its independent non-executive director with effect from today.

A seasoned chartered banker, Abdul Farid brings to the board over 30 years of investment banking and capital markets credentials,” said Bursa Malaysia in a statement yesterday.

He has served various merchants and investment banks including Aseambankers Malaysia Bhd, Schroders Malaysia, Malaysia International Merchant Bankers Bhd and JP Morgan. Abdul Farid holds a Bachelor of Science Degree majoring in accounting from the Pennsylvania State University and an MBA in finance from the University of Denver..
