Khazanah seeks to increase investments in Turkiye


Its significant investments include Acibadem Healthcare Group, one of Turkiye’s largest private healthcare providers, through IHH Healthcare Bhd, and Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport, one of Europe’s busiest international airports, through Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd.

PETALING JAYA: Turkiye will continue to be a “strategic investment destination” for Khazanah Nasional Bhd, as the sovereign wealth fund pledges to increase its investments in the Mediterranean country.

Khazanah said in a statement it will continue to explore potential new investments and collaboration opportunities in Turkiye, in the spirit of fostering strong bilateral ties with Malaysia.

Khazanah has a strong presence in the country, having invested over US$2.7bil (RM11.95bil) in various industries through its investee companies since 2008.

Its significant investments include Acibadem Healthcare Group, one of Turkiye’s largest private healthcare providers, through IHH Healthcare Bhd, and Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport, one of Europe’s busiest international airports, through Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd.

Khazanah’s commitment to maintaining Turkiye as a strategic investment destination was made during a meeting between senior representatives of the Malaysian sovereign wealth fund and Turkey Wealth Fund (TWF) in Istanbul on July 5.

Khazanah is part of the Malaysian delegation in Turkiye, headed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who is on a four-day official visit to the country at the invitation of the Turkyish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Ismail Sabri, who is also Khazanah’s chairman, met with senior officials from TWF, headed by CEO and board member, Salim Arda Ermut, to discuss potential areas of investment and collaboration that would benefit the two countries.
