Ringgit strengthens against US$ amid Russia-Ukraine tensions


KUALA LUMPUR:The ringgit strengthened against the US dollar at the opening today, as geopolitical tensions between Russia and Ukraine escalate, indicating that the current situation is highly vulnerable, adding to the extent of uncertainty in the foreign exchange market and commodities market in particular.

At 9 am, the local currency rose to 4.1815/1845 versus the greenback from Tuesday’s close of 4.1845/1855.
