PETALING JAYA: South-East Asia’s most anticipated theme park, Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park, will be opening its door on Feb 8, 2022
“Built with an investment of over US$800mil (RM3.35bil), this game-changing new themed attraction will put Malaysia and Pahang state on the world tourism map,” said Genting Malaysia Bhd
head of business operations and strategies Lee Thiam Kit.
“This theme park will contribute to the tourism sector and the economy with the creation of over a thousand jobs.”
Built across 26 acres at an elevation of 6,000 feet above sea level, Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park will take guests on a sky-high adventure through nine movie and adventure inspired “worlds”, incorporating original intellectual properties, as well as movie-themed fun and excitement across its world-class rides and attractions.
As part of the theme park’s soft opening, Genting SkyWorlds is offering a 20% discount from its published rates for bookings from Feb 8 to March 31.
Ticket sales will go live via the Genting SkyWorlds Website (gentingskyworlds.com) and Genting SkyWorlds Mobile App from 10am on Feb 4.
The soft opening rates would hover between RM128 and RM151.
After purchasing tickets online, the company said guests are encouraged to download the Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park mobile app, which allows guests to navigate and experience the park virtually prior to arrival.
Among other features, guests will be able to check wait times for rides, attractions and shows, receive promotional offers and discount vouchers, discover dining, shopping, games, and its advanced photo+ service.
Meanwhile, Resorts World Genting vice-president and head of Theme Park operations Greg Pearn who described the app as “a first for the South-East Asian region” said that the app is also integrated with the park’s Virtual Queue (VQ) technology, a feature that will reduce long waits in physical lines.
“Genting SkyWorlds VQ also allows guests to create boarding groups for multiple ticket holders, view recommended itineraries based on personal preferences, and receive real-time alerts for attraction reservations, availability, and must-see entertainment,” he added.
Pearn noted that opening a theme park during the pandemic has been a challenge and in turn, some attractions would be unavailable to guests as it is still in the final commissioning process.
“A small selection of attractions require a little more time to be completed, something the team is working hard to achieve,” he added.
