Syed Zaid’s term as SC chairman extended

KUALA LUMPUR: Securities Commission (SC) chairman Datuk Syed Zaid Albar's term has been extended for three years, with effect from Nov 1, 2021.

In a statement Saturday, the SC said the reappointment was approved by the Minister of Finance on June 3, 2021.

“Syed Zaid was appointed chairman of the SC on Nov 1, 2018. He has played a pivotal role in a rapidly evolving financial landscape, leading the SC in setting the strategic direction for the growth of the capital market during exceptionally challenging times,” SC said.

The SC recently unveiled its five-year Capital Market Masterplan 3, which aims to build a capital market that is relevant, efficient and diversified to enable the Malaysian economy to emerge fitter and stronger.
