KUALA LUMPUR: S P Setia Bhd has announced that its new president and chief executive officer Datuk Choong Kai Wai has officially began his role effective yesterday.

Meanwhile, S P Setia Bhd chairman Tan Sri Syed Anwar Jamalullail said Choong would be able to provide strategic guidance to the board, management and the entire group with fresh innovative ideas and lead in the transformation for it to stay relevant in this digital age.

Choong has over 30 years of experience in the property and construction industry, which includes both domestic and international markets.

About 11 years ago, he set up Setia Australia in Melbourne and had since established Setia as a strong brand name in Australia’s property market, leading it to be a trusted property developer in the country and the Asia-Pacific region.

On the other hand, the property developer also appointed Datuk Seri Koe Peng Kang as its new chief operating officer (COO).

“Koe’s vast experience makes him the right person to take on the role of deputy president and COO. He has been in S P Setia since 1997 and directly involved in the successful development of the Eco Series for the S P Setia Group.

Moving forward, Syed Anwar said the combination of Choong and Koe would present the group with the right opportunity to bring S P Setia to greater heights.
