Maxis urges its 3G customers to upgrade to 4G

“We also call on our 4G users out there to encourage their families and friends who are still on 3G, to start switching to the 4G network and device, so that no one is left behind,” said Maxis chief sales and services officer Patrick Er (pic).

PETALING JAYA: To further drive the 4G upgrade of its 3G customers, Maxis Bhd has also rolled out a campaign called “Balas Budi dengan 4G”, which aims to support and assist customers to prepare for the eventual network transition.

The campaign encourages existing 4G users to help their parents, families and friends who are still on 3G devices to quickly switch to 4G devices, including how they can have easy access to 4G devices.

“The retirement of 3G is being done with a customer first mindset, and we are fully committed to assist our customers every step of the way.

“Our lines are always open to those who have questions or need assistance regarding the upgrade.

“We also call on our 4G users out there to encourage their families and friends who are still on 3G, to start switching to the 4G network and device, so that no one is left behind,” said Maxis chief sales and services officer Patrick Er in a statement.

Under Jalinan Digital Negara or Jendela, the government’s digital infrastructure plan to achieve wider 4G coverage and higher quality broadband experience, the 3G sunset initiative is being undertaken by all telecommunication providers and set to be completed by the end of 2021.

The aim is for customers to pivot to faster and more reliable 4G networks that will enable download speeds 10 times faster than 3G, instant webpage leading and smoother video and music streaming.

For customers who need to upgrade to 4G phones, Maxis has exciting promotions and many device bundling offers, including its Zerolution plan and RM1 device plans with affordable monthly commitments.

Customer simply need to call in, visit Maxis’ website or walk into any Hotlink or Maxis store nationwide.

While the 3G sunset will not affect current Maxis 4G users, they should enable Voice Over LTE (VoLTE) on their devices.

VoLTE is an advanced technology that delivers crystal-clear sound over voice calls across the Maxis network, reduced background noise and the ability to surf at 4G speeds even while on a call.

Maxis launched VoLTE in October 2020 and it is being rolled out in phases to both prepaid and postpaid customers.
