Quick take: Permaju jumps 11%, most active on Bursa


KUALA LUMPUR: Permaju Industries Bhd is the most heavily traded counter on Bursa Malaysia in early trade Tuesday with over 64 million shares done.

The counter jumped 11.11%, or one sen to 10 sen. Year-to-date, it has fallen some 42.8%. Permaju-WA rose 8.33%, or 0.5 sen to 6.5 sen.

The principal activities of Permaju are the provision of management services and investment holding. The principal activities of the subsidiaries are trading of motor vehicles and provision of related services, properties development and timber plantation.

A check on previous filings by the group indicated no recent corporate developments that might have contributed to the sudden interest in the counter.

Its last filing on Bursa Malaysia on July 26 indicated that executive director Tang Boon Koon has acquired 100,000 shares in the company via open market. He has a 0.011% in the company.

For the third quarter ended March 31, Permaju’s net loss widened to RM25.4mil against RM2.22mil a year ago. Its revenue for the quarter fell 45% to RM7.81mil from RM14.3mil previously.

For the first nine months to March 31, it posted a net loss of RM16.2mil on revenue of RM25.3mil.
