MIER appoints Sulaiman Mahbob as board of trustees chairman

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Institute of Economic Research (MIER) has appointed Tan Sri Dr Sulaiman Mahbob as the new chairman of its Board of Trustees with immediate effect, replacing Tan Sri Dr Kamal Salih.

In a statement, MIER said Sulaiman had previously held several posts in MIER, serving as executive director in 1994 and chairman from 2012 to April 2019, and had remained as a Board member since then.

It said Kamal had decided to step down in order to take up the executive chairman post in privately-held Ankar Corporation, and simultaneously, chair of Yayasan Mahkota, effective April 1, 2021.

He had served as MIER’s executive director and was also a Member of Parliament for Wangsa Maju from 1996 to 1999.

He is also the founder of the International Medical University (IMU), Malaysia’s first private medical school. - Bernama
