PUNB, KBS team up to train 1,500 entrepreneurs

Chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar said the MyPRENEUR initiative was an added value to PUNB’s efforts to churn out more bumiputra entrepreneurs, especially among youths.

PETALING JAYA: Perbadanan Usahawan Nasional Bhd (PUNB) has forged a strategic alliance with the Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS) through the Malaysia Youth Entrepreneur (MyPRENEUR) development programme to train more youths to become entrepreneurs.

Chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar said the MyPRENEUR initiative was an added value to PUNB’s efforts to churn out more bumiputra entrepreneurs, especially among youths.

He said through the collaboration, PUNB aims to train about 1,500 youth groups that have been identified by KBS that have entrepreneurial potential to be nurtured through the programme implemented by PUNB.

“The training identified include the PUNB Uni-Challenge, a competition-oriented entrepreneurship programme with a primary focus on youths trained at the National Youth Skills Institute (IKBN) and BizConsultancy session with PUNB, a business consultation session that provides advice, guidance and training to set the direction of their business.

“In addition, PUNB is offering coaching sessions with selected industry experts for the youths, ” he said in a statement.

Through this collaboration as well, he said qualified youths will be invited to participate in the JUMPER Start-Up programme.

A mentor attachment training programme in the industry of choice will run for up to eight months and during that period, participants will be placed in the mentor business premises to learn the ins and outs of the business world.

“Interestingly, upon completion of the training, the youths are eligible to apply for a business grant amounting to RM10,000, as well as business financing to grow their business, ” he said in conjunction with the virtual launch of the PUNB KBS MyPRENEUR on the PUNB and KBS Official Facebook Accounts. Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Reezal Merican Naina Merican also took part at the launching ceremony.

Noh said the programmes will be monitored to ensure their desired impact and results in producing entrepreneurs, thus creating job opportunities in the country. ─ Bernama
