PETALING JAYA: While Malaysians are living longer, notable health inequalities have been observed across states, genders and ethnicities, with more prevalent health problems among low-income individuals.

Khazanah Research Institute (KRI) chairman Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop (file pic below) said the think tank’s latest report shows that a person’s health status is closely related to socioeconomic status, where low-income individuals are more likely to live shorter lives and record worse health outcomes compared with higher income-earners.
