PETALING JAYA: One-stop logistics solutions provider Swift Haulage Sdn Bhd (Swift Group) is investing RM30mil in a 175,000 sq ft green technology, state-of-the-art facility in the Port Klang Free Zone (PKFZ).
In a statement, Swift Group said it had leased seven acres of PKFZ’s last available industrial land.
“The lease will be for 30 years with investment cost of RM70mil, ” it said, adding that the warehouse would become a regional distribution hub and storage facility for medical devices and fast-moving consumer goods.
Swift Group said the facility would incorporate energy-efficient features including solar power and day-lighting to optimise energy saving, water-efficient features such as rain water harvesting, water-efficient landscaping, metering, leak detection and effective delivery of fresh air.
“The warehouse will serve as a one-stop centre for freight forwarding of imports and exports, haulage, storage, local distribution and value-added services, particularly for the distribution and storage of medical devices from multi-national companies.”
PKFZ chairman Datuk Lawrence Low said the addition of Swift Group is a reflection of the continuing success of PKFZ.
“We aspire to take PKFZ to the next level by leveraging on our inherent advantages of a strategic location and most importantly, its competitiveness, ” he said in the statement.
With the last seven acres leased to Swift Group, PKFZ chief executive officer Loh Chee Can said the 640 acres of open land for lease in PKFZ has been fully taken up.
“PKFZ has become a sought-after location for companies, especially for importers and exporters due to the advantages derived from its integrated free zone status that facilitates manufacturing, trading and logistics activities.”
Meanwhile, Swift Group group executive director Loo Yong Hui said he is excited to develop the land and to contribute to an increase in traffic flow into PKFZ with the distribution hub.
“We look forward to this development and strive to constantly add value to our customers, ” he said.
