Maxis records 2Q net profit of RM343mil, dividend 4 sen

Maxis CEO Gokhan Ogut said the telco is accelerating its 5G network readiness. "We are ready to deploy 5G and are committed to providing the best 5G innovation to Malaysia as soon as the spectrum is made available," he said.

KUALA LUMPIR: Maxis Bhd's net profit slid 13.6% to RM343mil in the second quarter ended June 30, 2020, on the back of lower revenue due to operational restrictions and impairments resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic and movement control order (MCO).

"The decline was mainly due to loss of wholesale business and higher impairment made to receivables based on higher credit risk in view of the Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on economies worldwide," it said in a statement on Thursday
