SDS Group looks to expand outside Johor

More shops: Kee Meng (left) and Kee Jin posing for the interview. Kee Jin says the company is identifying locations for the new outlets preferably in residential shoplots.

THE story of SDS Group Bhd, which is aiming to list on the ACE Market in October, began with a small traditional bakery in Tampoi, Johor in the 1970s, selling tau sar piah (mung bean biscuits).

Inspired by their father’s business, the owner’s three sons later set up bakery products company Sin Lee Hiang in 1987, and quickly expanded the business, opening 10 bakeries across Johor Baru and setting up SDS Food Sdn Bhd in 1992.
