Sunway raises US$5mil from sukuk issue


PETALING JAYA: Sunway Bhd has raised US$5mil from the issue of a sukuk wakalah with a tenure of one year and three days.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Sunway noted the tranche 1 series 1 issuance is part of its multi-currency Islamic medium term notes programme of up to RM10bil proposed by Sunway Treasury Sdn Bhd. 

The proceeds raised from the issuance shall be utilised to finance Shariah-compliant investment activities, capital expenditure, working capital requirements and/or other general corporate purposes of Sunway Group.

HSBC Amanah Malaysia Bhd was the sole lead manager for the issuance of tranche 1 series 1 sukuk wakalah.
