Softer third quarter seen for MISC

In the petroleum segment, MISC shifted more of its tankers to terms charters while only very large crude carrier (VLCC) tanker rates have showed improvement in the quarter.

KUALA LUMPUR: Affin Hwang Capital Research expects a softer third quarter for MISC Bhd before its performance picks up in the seasonally stronger final quarter of this year.

It said while the trend in liquified natural gas (LNG) tankers rates in the third quarter improved following the seasonally weaker second quarter, four to five of MISC’s LNG tankers would undergo dry-docking activities in the second half of the year.
