KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Shahril Ridza Ridzuan, chief executive officer of the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) is one of several names being considered for the post of Khazanah Nasional Bhd managing director.

The Edge Financial Daily cited sources as saying that Shahril Ridza, along with four other people, are being considered to fill the shoes of Tan Sri Azman Mokhtar, who left the sovereign wealth fund when its board of directors resigned from their posts last week.

According to the report, the other four names put forward are Raja Shahreen Raja Othman, CEO of Selangor's Menteri Besar Inc; Datuk Yusof Annuar Yaacob, CEO of Deutsche Bank (Malaysia); Datuk Charon Mokhzani, group managing director of Malaysian Industrial Development Finance Bhd; and Datuk Mohd Zafer Mohd Hasim, former CEO of Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Bhd.

The Prime Minister's Office had announced on Monday new members on Khazanah's board of directors, led by Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad as its new chairman.

Of late, the state fund has come under fire from the new ruling government for making some poor investment decisions. Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali said in parliament yesterday that among its write-offs, it had lost RM80mil in a failed online lingerie company.
