Circle International ties up with cross-border payment provider Lakala

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian-grown media tech company Circle International Holdings Ltd has partnered payment gateway provider Lakala to facilitate cross-border payments between Malaysia and China.

"In 2016, cross border transactions involving China within the eCommerce space was valued at USD$1 trillion," said Circle International in a press statement.

China-based Lakala is a leading player in China's offline settlement maket and third-party mobile payment market.

"This will contribute positively to our Group revenue in 2019 and the tie-up will allow for increased monetization opportunities from China and the creation of a more complete marketplace within its proprietary Business Circle mobile application," said Datuk Brian Tan, CEO of Circle International.

According to him, the company's Business Circle mobile application has a large following in China and other Chinese-speaking markets.

The English version of the app was recently launched to penetrate into new markets including Australia.
