GPacket-ATV JV to operate 3 digital free to air channels in Malaysia

HONG KONG: Green Packet Bhd’s (GPacket) wholly owned subsidiary, Kiple Media Sdn Bhd has signed a collaboration agreement with Asia Television Digital Media Sdn Bhd (ATV), a wholly owned subsidiary of Co-Prosperity Holdings Ltd to cooperate and form a joint venture to operate three digital free-to-air channels in Malaysia. 

The partnership will see ATV investing HK$50mil into Kiple Media to operate broadcasting television channels in Malaysia. 

Green Packet and ATV will jointly operate three broadcasting channel television in Malaysia which may comprise of Chinese language movie channel, Chinese language general entertainment channel and home shopping channel.

“We are excited and honoured to be part of this synergistic collaboration with ATV. We are making significant commitments to improve the broadcasting television channels in Malaysia. The broadcast industry is in a unique position to usher in a new era of television. 

“Green Packet and ATV have committed to this MoU and this cooperation would strengthen our business offer for TV broadcasters,” GPacket founder and board member Puan Chan Cheong said in a statement. 

The signing ceremony was held earlier today at the The Ritz Carlton, Hong Kong. The agreement was signed by Puan and ATV chief executive officer Yu Ng.

Yu said the group needed new partnerships in driving its business and it was a great effort to work together with GPacket.

“We believe this strategic alliance will become an integral part of our business. This collaboration will provide us the stepping stone into broadcasting of television channels in Malaysia. ATV and GPacket will work hard to make this JV successful,” Yu said.
