IFlix raises US$133mil to invest in original programming

LOS ANGELES: IFlix, a paid online video service for emerging markets, has raised US$133mil to invest in original programming that can help it stand out from larger competitors Netflix Inc and Amazon.com Inc.

Hearst Corp led the most recent funding round, which also included previous investors Sky Plc, Liberty Global Plc and Evolution Media Capital, a fund backed by Creative Artists Agency and TPG Growth. Two-year-old iFlix has raised about US$220mil this year.
