KUALA LUMPUR: Telekom Malaysia Bhd
(TM) is strengthening its regional footprint in South-East Asia by teaming up with MekongNet, a leading Internet service provider and Internet exchange provider in Cambodia.
TM said in a statement that through the partnership, MekongNet would host and provide network infrastructure for TM’s multi-services node or point-of-presence (PoP) in Cambodia.
“This will enable MekongNet to provide alternative connectivity solution to its customers as well as serving Cambodia’s growing demands for international internet bandwidth, through diverse routes, connecting to TM’s other PoPs in Kuala Lumpur and Hong Kong,” it said.
The PoP which is located in MekongNet’s Internet data centre in Phnom Penh will be serving various services including IPVPN, IP transit and global ethernet services.
“This collaborative effort enables both TM and MekongNet to capitalise each other’s regional strength, supporting bilateral communication needs between these two countries and further allowing MekongNet to expand product reachability to its customers worldwide through TM’s global presence,” TM said.
TM vice-president (global & wholesale) Mohamed Asri Jaafar said the alliance with MekongNet would further strengthen its regional coverage in the region and, through the new PoP, enable it to offer a vast range of services at competitive prices, going in and out from Cambodia through diversified routes via submarine and terrestrial cables.
