Zelan gets RM248.7mil bridge contract


PETALING JAYA: Zelan Bhd unit Zelan Construction Sdn Bhd (ZCSB) has received a contract from the East Coast Economic Region Development Council for the construction of the RM248.73mil drawbridge connecting Muara North and Muara South in the Kuala Terengganu city centre.

The overall length of the bridge is 632 metres, with a width of 23 metres.

The clear span of the drawbridge is 50 metres long.

A statement to Bursa Malaysia said that the contract duration was for 135 weeks, commencing on the date for possession on Aug 13.

“The date for completion is on March 14, 2017,” the company said in the statement.

The project site is located between Muara North and Muara South, the two reclaimed areas on the north and south of the Terengganu River.

The company said the bridge will be a link to connect the two land areas and between the Kuala Terengganu city across the north and south of the Terengganu River, and eventually to Terengganu’s Sultan Mahmud Airport.
